This place is amazing, and I love great sushi and can't get enough. A definite must go!
The sake listings here are top notch and a heavy and amazing pour, the fish is always fresh and well prepared and portioned. The Giant Oyster, wow - don't get me started ( but please don't order it so I never have to worry about not getting my share!).
This is one of my Astoria go to places and it won't let you done. The set menus are great and they always have crazy good appetizers. -

The calamari salad is delicious, crispy and had a good combinations with the lettuce salad.
Sushi Deluxe quite exciting, $40 14pcs n it come with botan, uni and anago. Sal Teriyaki had a good perfect cooking. Only the server needs more improvement. But over all is a good food. -

This is the best spot to go for a dine-in Japanese experience.
The prices are higher than other places nearby, but Kondo is WORTH the price. The fish is fresh and everything is tremendously delicious. I'd love to come back and eat around the bar sometime -- it looks like a great experience.
The interior is pretty cold and, to be honest, unwelcoming (see: white lighting and an overall sparseness - I thought it was a doctors office when I walked by for the first time). Is that any real reason to skip out on Kondo? Definitely not. -

I've been to Kondo several times and their food and service is consistently top notch. Their staff is the Japanese kind of polite (which means super), and their menu is very traditional. They import their fish from Japan, and everything is fresh and delicious. This is hands down one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Astoria.
Their space is spotless, simply decorated, and great for conversations, since it's not usually the noisy kind of busy.
I enjoy their Omakase, their Sushi Sashimi Combo, their Una Don (excellent eel), and for dessert, the Green Tea Parfait. -

Kondo is a solidly good Japanese restaurant in Astoria. It's not at the level of nearby Gaijin, or Manhattan high-end sushi bars, but it's far better than an average sushi joint in Queens.
The place is simply decorated and pleasant. Service was polite and efficient. The food was served quickly (I was one of four customers for dinner at the time).
I tried the sushi deluxe and it was all delicious. The fish was seemingly fresh, or at least of a higher caliber than places nearby (again, besides Gaijin). The scallop sushi was the highlight for me. The presentation for the whole platter was also above average.
I'd definitely return, but my one qualm is that my sushi deluxe cost about $40. With a single beer and also tip, my dinner for one cost me $60. With this said, I do appreciate that fresh fish comes at a price.
